It’s encouraging to see major high street companies promoting lower calorie options and we hope more will follow suit. What is a healthy snack? Alongside meals a healthy snack can make you satisfied throughout the day. Here are a few ideas that are each around 100 kcals that can be used alongside the 400-600-600 plan. All of the chosen snacks are aimed to minimize a rise in blood glucose levels. Fresh fruit salad (80gms) Chopped vegetables (80gms) and hummus (1tsp) A plain rice cake or cracker with (25gms) cheese Sugar-free jelly with fresh fruit (80gms) Chicken pieces (85gms) Unsalted nuts (16gms) Natural yogurt (100gms) Breakfast for Diabetes……………………. A healthy, satisfying breakfast can make a big difference to how people start their day. Many traditional breakfast foods are packed with carbohydrate and sugar, which will all affect your blood glucose levels causing it to rise. We've come up with two simple 400Kcal meals so you can take control of your diabetes and ensure you start your day the right way. Spinach Omelette – 397kcals Grilled Breakfast – 357kcals Ingredients - 2 medium eggs Ingredients - 1 large beef tomato - 1 cup of spinach - 2 large portabella mushrooms - 1 tablespoon of olive oil - 2 slices of bacon - 30g of grated cheese - 1 sausage(70% or over meat content) - chilli flakes optional 1. Turn oven on to 180 degrees. 1. Mix eggs well in a bowl (Seasoning optional). 2. Place the sausage under or on the grill. 2. Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan over a medium- 2.
