Foodnet Meals on Wheels 2018 Annual Report 2018 Board of Directors Message from the Executive Director John Gaines, IV, Chair Christine Werner, Vice Chair 2018 represents a year of strength, resiliency, and growth at Foodnet Meals on Wheels. We delivered David Dier, Treasurer confidence, independence, and peace-of-mind to our older adult community in very meaningful ways. Over the Karen Fritz, Secretary course of the year, we delivered over 170,000 meals. This is a 3% increase in program participation compared to Lyndsey Bullock 2017, and we expect the demand for services to continue to grow. Rachel Clarkson Marie Cope Our services combat some of the biggest threats to healthy aging: hunger, isolation, and loss of independence. *Alex Davis Our dedicated staff, board of directors, and volunteers make anything feel possible when it comes to carrying Nancy Dytman out Foodnet’s mission and vision. We are Ginny Olsen all wired for human contact. It may be hard to believe, but studies show that without social contact, individuals Joseph Outzen exhibit higher levels of stress, depression, and increased vulnerability to negative health outcomes. We believe *Melisa Knapp our services play an important role in helping our seniors cope with social isolation and loneliness. Our team Lynnette Scofield connects with our participants; we listen to stories; we hold hands during grief; and we celebrate legacies. Lynn Stephan We have so many accomplishments to celebrate this year. We launched our choice menu program, which *Former Board Member broadens our menu choices and provides a variety of new meal options for our participants. We created new partnerships with diverse community organizations and businesses to build critical community linkages for our Administration older adult neighbors. We raised awareness about senior hunger and malnutrition and generated funding Jessica Gosa, LMSW through our successful Mac ‘n Cheese Bowl, community grants, business sponsorships, and generous individual gifts. We also engaged in an impact and sustainability planning effort that will position the organization for its Executive Director next level of success.
